THCV: Tetrahydrocannabivarin
THCV. Tetrahydrocannabivarin. Among the several cannabinoids cannabis has, there is one that highlights for its enormous hallucinogen effect. Because THCv is found in very few sativa strains like Haze and others that thrive in central Africa.
This cannabinoid is found on the top of the upper buds ant the effect is quite similar to LSD. It lasts about five minutes. But once you have tried be sure you will not forget it. Due to its strength it is not suitable for everybody. If you are not used to such a powerful high you can be scared and suffer a bad trip. It happened to me in Tanzania while smoking Banghi. My trip lasted more than 3 hours and I couldn’t understand what was going on. I tried to fight against it and it was the worst thing I could have done. I was very young I was used to Morocco strains which were pure indica.
Later I had the opportunity to try some sativa varieties with THCv. I tried some pure Haze landraces whose upper buds were full of this cannabinoid. I also tried Belladonna, from Paradise Seeds and Creative , from Ketama Seeds. These genetics are a wonder and smoking a few drags is synonymous of a big trip.
THCv is also used for medical purposes. Specialy for those who want to lose weight. THCV affects the same receptors in the brain that THC does although it’s known to produce a different kind of high. It is higher. THCV is psychedelic but it gives more of a clear-headed feel. It makes you enjoy even more. THCV is still being studied for specific uses: one, its use as a potential appetite suppressant and, therefore, perfect to help you to lose weight. Why does it happen? It happens because THCV is an antagonist of CB1 and CB2 receptors. Scientists think it blocks the feeling of reward that we feel when we eat food. THCV is also effective as an anticonvulsant.
Anyhow, the pleasure we feel when we smoke a bud that contains this extraordinary cannabinoid is enormous. Try some of the strains mentioned in this article and remember it is found on the top of the upper buds only. It is a question of unforgettable five minutes!
